cat naps

i'm trying to encourage Wyatt,
a. to actually take naps
and
b. to take these naps in an appropriate place. this would exclude naps on mom/dad, in a car seat or in the baby carrier.

trying to start instill good sleep habits with him is tricky (and time consuming). no matter how tired he is, the little guy will fight sleep off tooth and nail. i guess he's just having too much fun to sleep (kind of like college).

which leads me to wonder, why is it that an infant, much like a kitten, will actually fight off sleep? i know why we adults fight it, maybe we have work to do, maybe we're pretending to like the movie we're nodding off during (i'm thinking of you, Mom). but an infant? what do they care? they should love sleep!

so i don't actually have footage of Wyatt's struggle, but a quick glance on youtube and you'll find roughly 80,000 videos of kittens fighting it...

I think they fight sleep because the world is so damn amazing. There's so much to see, so much to absorb, so much love to get from mom and dad. Why sleep? (other than the fact that babies without sleep are cranky/crazy/unhappy).
